"In this irresistible debut novel, a freak accident allows a wife and mother to explore the alluring alternative of the Road Not Taken. Abbey Lahey is a married, harried working mother of two, struggling to make ends meet in a blue-collar suburb of Philadelphia. When a tumble down a Nordstrom escalator lands her in an alternate reality, Abbey finds herself happily married to the one who got away--a dashing Philly blueblood she met briefly years earlier--and living a Cinderella life of privilege and luxury. It's everything Abbey ever dreamed of. Or is it? At first dazzled by the clothes, the penthouse, the nannies, and the glittering social functions, Abbey begins noticing troubling flaws in her new fourteen-karat life. and wonders what happened to the people she left behind. Torn between two vastly different realities, Abbey takes increasingly dramatic steps to reclaim herself---whoever that may be"--

This is a quirky yet enjoyable romantic comedy about Abbey Lahey, an overworked, frazzled and under appreciated mom. One day she falls down a Nordstrom escalator and when she comes to she finds herself inhabiting the life of the high society Abbey van Holt. She is now married to her handsome and super rich past love, Alex van Holt. But is it all that she fantasized it would be?

catebutler This sounds quite a bit like the movie Sliding Doors. I have it on my list! 7y

I genuinely enjoyed this book. It's a quick read and brings a unique twist on a classic type of story. While I started off not liking the main character, reading about how she copes with her new life and reflects on her life helped me like her. By the end, I was rooting for her to succeed!

This book takes place in my hometown, so I LOVED all the local references. This is a perfect read to bring on vacation or for a lazy Saturday. It begs us to ask "what if?"

Somewhat predictable, but still entertaining, "what if" story.

A fluffy beach read I wasn't entirely impressed with the story. It's marketed as similar to Sliding Doors and it is...kind of. It was quick and easy and did provide the reader with a sense of "what could have been" also the intense loneliness one can feel in one's own head. Fun, nothing special.
