Really enjoyed this book and the insight into one aspect of the self. It‘s helping me better understand my own identity in all its roles and my actions and responses in those roles. It‘s also helping me realize how I can better interact with others whom I sometimes struggle to communicate well with....

Definitely highly recommend it.

Finally reading this popular book and reading it with one of my favourite kids. 🥰 The short chapters are exactly what he needs to be motivated to move from more graphic novels / short text to more sustained reading. #proudmama #familyofreaders #booksbindus

Tamra This is a special book here! 💜 2mo
LaurenReads The second book is just as good as the first so far! 2mo
dixi_e @Tamra I‘m looking forward to sharing it with him. Think its also the right time for him to be considering some of the larger ideas it shares. 2mo
dixi_e @LaurenReads Good to know. He already discovered the sequel as he was checking out the number of chapters. He‘d barely stared this one but was very excited at the prospect of there being a continuation. 😆😄 2mo

There is such brutal honesty in this book and I love it. This has me thinking of all the “why didn‘t she just leave him?” questions/attacks and the damaging reality of how hard it is for woman to do so.

@BookishTrish Sorry for the late post and thanks but we went off camping just after this parcel of #moosemoose fun arrived! What a lovely gesture. The ‘moose mints‘ have been a great hit and the mug is adorable.

What?? Second page in??? And in a pivotal plot forming note (I‘m assuming)?? 🙈

LiteraryinLititz About the typos in “you‘re” and “financal”? I assume it‘s intentional... right? 2y
dixi_e I hope so... it just wasn‘t pointed out soon so I‘m all 🤪😆 2y
tournevis I would read these mistakes are intentional. 2y
dixi_e I know but... the character‘s failure to comment on it is irking me and still makes me wonder. I feel that anyone literate enough would, at some point, at least shake their head at the ridiculousness. 2y

jillrhudy Wow. As a librarian I‘m fascinated by the sticker/circulation concept. 2y
dixi_e @jillrhudy How so?? The timeline? The fine? The audacity to limit reading times? (🙃😆) 2y
jillrhudy All of it but especially the fine! 2y
dixi_e @jillrhudy Well, this fine is only for Express Reads and Express Reads are those books deemed popular and hard to keep on the shelf. And if it happened that someone couldn‘t pay, my experience with the library is it would be waved. How does your library manage popular reads? 2y

This is collection of interconnected stories, revolving around families in a newly built suburban neighbourhood. This is one of those books that I find hard to review; the stories are entertaining enough to keep me reading yet they‘re also somewhat blasé. I enjoyed the book but wouldn‘t go out of my way to pick it up now that I‘ve experienced it.

I‘m not sure what I think exactly but I have a lot of thoughts. Enlightening read. Would have liked to have the insight and strength to wrestle with this, like this, earlier; happy to have them now. 😊

It‘s the ‘thinking aloud‘ of all the thoughts so many (all?) woman have over the course of their existence that is 🤯 as I read this book. And more personally, it‘s me connecting with this quote and book as a single parent whose path to parenthood was externally motivated. Regret is pointless and changing the past is impossible so how do I reconcile the life I want to live with the life I have (which is a ? deeper than just mothering)?

nosferatoos I finished this last night. It‘s so good 😭😭😭 2y
dixi_e @nosferatoos I just finished yesterday and YES! it‘s so, so good. I loved the fluidity of the mixed timeline and dichotomy of the relationships. 2y
nosferatoos It reminded me of House on Mango Street in that it‘s not a linear narrative but a series of vignettes that build the story and I love that structure so much. 2y

dixi_e @nosferatoos Please don‘t judge me (too harshly) but despite loving Cisneros I‘ve yet to read the House in Mango Street. 🙊😬 But I concur about the structure and also love it. I thought the novel was brilliant from start to finish. 2y
