This is such a necessary introduction to the problems in the US prison system. It covers the bases and it makes a ton of information accessible for the layperson. Definitely recommended!

An excellent introduction to the issue of mass incarceration that would work for a large age range (youngish teens to adults). Also a good compliment to "The New Jim Crow."
