Poison Orchids: A darkly compelling psychological thriller
Poison Orchids: A darkly compelling psychological thriller | Anni Taylor, Sarah a Denzil
7 posts | 8 read
A dark, compelling new thriller from bestselling authors Sarah A. Denzil and Anni Taylor. Young backpackers Gemma and Hayley arrive at a remote mango farm, out of money and desperate for work. The farm's owner, Tate Llewellyn, welcomes them in with open arms. An enigmatic, wealthy chemist, Tate spends his days running his hobby farm and cultivating rare orchids in his greenhouse. The weeks go on, a blur of fruit-picking, parties, campfires and wading beneath waterfalls in the nearby hot springs. Tate calls the girls his orchids...his pretty orchids.... Until the night the girls find themselves on a dark highway, bruised and bloodied. How did everything go so wrong? Senior Detective Bronwen McKay and psychologist Megan Arlotti question the terrified girls. But Hayley and Gemma are telling two very different stories of what happened to them over the past three months. Which story is the truth and what are the girls covering up?

The second part of this book is so drawn out it took me two weeks to finish it. (1st and 3rd part are okay.) Aside from that, I like the story. It kept me guessing until the end.

This book was so good, told from different perspectives with a twist at the end.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it a little confusing in the beginning trying to keep track of each girls history, but that may have been as I was quite busy and had to spread my reading time over a few weeks. Once I had it figured out though it was a good book which had a few twists and turns and kept you guessing right till the end.

I thought this was a great read apart from one thing (no spoilers) which I had to knock a star off the rating for, as I just didn‘t find it believable. Apart from that I really enjoyed it. 4🌟

TW: brief mention of drug use, violence, & sexual assault.

This wasn't a total waste of time, it had a decent premise, but the authors took way too long to develop the plot, and for the love of God, if you can't find your own typos, HIRE A FREAKING EDITOR!!!! I don't want to be a hater, but this is why I hesitate to read indie books. If you can't be bothered to publish a clean copy, why should I bother to read it? Don't be sloppy. Thank you, #grammarnazi

rretzler I‘ve noticed there are lots of errors even from books coming from publishing houses, unfortunately. I‘m with you though, I don‘t pick up many indie books anymore for that same reason. 6y
