Mehso-so

This is hard science fiction and not much happens in the way of action - most of the book consists of scientists talking amongst themselves as they gradually unravel the mystery of a humanoid found on the moon 50,000 years after he died. I liked it up until the last chapter and epilogue which had me plumbing the depths of my brain to recall what I knew about the human evolution timeline and the history of the moon. I just couldn‘t buy the ending.

bookishbitch Cool cover though. 4y

Published in 1977. Optimistic view of the future I don‘t see happening any time soon. Some of the computer technology portrayed in the book is similar to what we have though.

Texreader I read this decades ago. I love Hogan‘s books including this one! I‘m not a scifi fan and I skipped the tech jargon in his books, but loved the rest. I had the good fortune to meet Hogan and have dinner with him decades ago because my husband was a sci-fi newsletter editor and Hogan was in town for a sci-fi conference. It was so cool. 4y
BestDogDad @Texreader That IS cool! I‘ve had this book on my shelves for years, and this the first Hogan I‘ve read. It sounds like your husband had a pretty cool job! 4y
Texreader @BestDogDad It was all volunteer work but he did it for about 15 years. Tons (as in probably hundreds) of free books and we got to meet a number of very cool authors. He was friends with a few. But it was a lot of work so eventually he had to stop. 4y
BestDogDad @Texreader Well, it was an awesome experience. And free books. Wow! 4y

This book is an awesome read. They find a dead astronaut on the moon, well the investigation begins and they come to find out he has been there for thousands of years. How did we get on the moon when those ancestors were still in caves? Book one of a trilogy you will love all three.
