“And for the first time ever, he knew what it felt like to be truly blessed.”
The illustrations remind me of stain glass windows, with abstract pieces put together.
This a great fable for young children. Using an animal is very popular in fables which is what this story does. It teaches an important lesson as well.
“The finest tailor made his clothes from spun silk and threads of gold.”
The cat from hunger mountain by Ed young ( 2016). This story about a lord who has everything but is never satisfied. This teaches a good lesson about being greatful and opening up to the new things around you!
#FallIsBooked Day 3: Not so much a #BlackCat but a greedy Lord Cat. As Lord Cat wandered around the city, starving, looking for some place to eat, he heard of a blessed monk who provided free food to hungry and homeless creatures such as himself. A piercing tale with a clear moral about the dangers of wastefulness – complemented by Ed Young‘s signature collage art. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-euG
Review: The Cat from Hunger Mountain, by Ed Young, 2016. New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book. This story is a visually stunning book with a deeper message of greed and wastefulness behind it.
Blurb: I particularly loved this book because of the message it gave, that physical possessions aren't the most important things in life, and being generous pays off.
Quote: “Still he refused to leave. What would life be without his possessions?“
