I collect older versions of Modern Library editions. Husband built me this table so I can display a few of the covers. He may not be a reader, but his hobbies sure benefit (read ‘enable‘) mine! ❤️😆

DivineDiana So nice! And a kind husband! Love your collection! 5y

Pickpick

Let the controversy surrounding this book be the reason you read it. I read it for a history class, and wound up wrapped deep into the life of Nat Turner. Styron took a chance in the 1960‘s, a white author writing the innermost thoughts of an 1830‘s African American slave. The prose is strong, the story never dull, and the minute details such as food and dress historically accurate and educational.

Pickpick

This book was controversial near the time of publication. White guy writes about black experience kind of thing. Regardless, quite good, quick read. Interesting to examine what could have been going on in Turner's head during this period. Well done, great characters, Styron strikes a chord again!
