Highs and lows with this story. Painfully honest about growing up, sexuality, self-esteem, and friendship. Instead of romanticizing the flirtation, Alcott delved into the uncomfortable side. Liked, didn't love, this one.
"...fall swept in with fresh air. There was always a chance that things would start over, better than they had been." It's starting! I love the crisp air of fall and always find myself motivated and inspired when the season arrives. ??
I haven't read a book this quickly in months! The descriptions of a crush are so right on, I felt fourteen again. Love this!!!
I relate to Charlie in a way where she has inner battles, insecurities. Most especially, when she deals in talking to people. The story though was interesting at first but then there were these mid subjects that gets me kind of lost. I just want to see the point in it. It was going in curves and zigzags. What raises an eyebrow was the climactic part and it felt so sudden & unrealistic. But still, this book is an ok book. It has a new age feel.
[ #bookaholic ] I just can't help it. Adding 3 more to my unread/to-read shelf. Haha #amyzhang #newbooks #collection
Umm. This book probably isn't for everyone. It covers the topic of student/teacher relationships in high school, but it doesn't follow the typical plot line. Characters were solid, especially Lila, but the story slows and it gets messy and doesn't really go anywhere.
