I‘ve come to the grim conclusion that it would make sense to get over myself and learn to love reading library ebooks on my phone 📱. Library books aren‘t available on kindle for UK users. My Kobo, which I got 2nd hand specifically for this reason, is so slow and clunky I avoid reading on it. I considered getting a tablet, but me & the planet both really don‘t *need* another device. So phone it is. I‘ll give it til June, & see if I need a rethink.

rockpools Any suggestions for making it easier on your eyes, coping with the small screen, being so grumpy?? Thanks! 4y

TrishB I can‘t read on my phone 😞 did it once and just couldn‘t cope. So that didn‘t help at all!! 4y

rockpools @TrishB I‘ve failed several times, but logically it makes sense. I‘m kind of putting it out there to make me give it another go! 4y

ljuliel I might be one of the last people on Earth to not own a fancy cell phone that has all the bells and whistles, mainly because I avoid phones if possible.I only use a phone for emergency reasons. I‘ve seen the phones , and think it‘d be hard to see the print on one ,unless you could crank it up really big , then you‘d have to turn the pages so often, your thumb would catch fire. I‘ve never owned a Kobo, so have no advice on them. Do you like audio ? 4y

rockpools @ljuliel Asbestos thumbs may well be the way forward! Yes to audio, but I‘m trying to make the best use of my library, and although their audio selection is improving, it‘s still quite limited- much better for browsing & taking a chance than for finding particular books or genres. 4y

rockpools @Lindy Thank you Lindy, that‘s really helpful. I‘ll try with white on black to begin with - as well as less glare, I think it might help that it doesn‘t look like an overly-wordy webpage that way, which always has me wanting to flick. 🤞🤞 4y

rockpools @youneverarrived Yup. I mean sometimes I appreciate Amazon being a pain, because it makes it easier not to give them all of my money/data/whatever else they want. But the things they do well, they really do well! 4y
