The promising title got me to pick this book without a second thought and it started out great. What seemed like a fun and quirky book turned out to be repetitive, boring and disappointing though. The illustrations are good and the comic style of writing was great but the content itself seemed nothing new. It‘s all the things that readers and writers do and I found myself skimming through it.
Lisa is a therapist and lives a normal life with her husband and 2 children until a murder at the nearby beach changes everything. The entire book was pretty interesting with 2 different timelines. At times it did feel a little dragged but it was probably necessary for the character development. Overall it was a pretty engaging thriller with a good unexpected ending although I did expect more twists.

Almost the end of March but never too late for #koreanmarch🇰🇷 I remember picking this book just after its release but halfway through I got busy with work and stopped reading. I remember the story being absolutely amazing and I was so invested in the plot and the characters especially Sunja. Waiting to finish this book now alternating with the audiobook so that I can start watching the drama starring Lee Min Ho!
Currently engrossed in this interesting thriller by @fmcfaddenauthor . Loving the plot and the characters and can‘t wait to see what happens! Whatever this author writes, it definitely keeps you hooked! She is officially my go to author when I‘m in a slump to get me interested in reading again! 💕
“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.”

Who else likes to read at night? When it‘s calm and peaceful 🌃
This book has one of my favorite thriller plots, a road trip with friends to the wilderness and it‘s fast paced. Also when there are many characters, it‘s bound to keep you guessing till the end as to who is the culprit. All the characters were so different from each other and the chapters alternate between the female protagonist and “Anonymous”. A good whodunnit which definitely kept me excited and I couldn‘t help but binge the book.
This series is so addictive!!! Not able to focus so much on reading these days so binging on some good shows. This is creepy, twisted and dark. So thriller lovers don't miss this one!
I absolutely loved reading the scandalous, glamorous, raw, dark and luxurious life of the fictional Hollywood actress Evelyn Hugo. Reading about her life from rags to riches and her seven marriages and more was so interesting. I was angry with her, understood her, felt inspired by how independent and bold she was, how she knew what she wanted and went for it, and also sympathized with her. It felt like reading a real person's autobiography.
Diagon Alley was a place for joy. This was the location that gave Harry Potter – and hundreds of millions of readers across the world along with him – his first experience of the Wizarding World. Here, Harry got his first wand, first met Hedwig, and first discovered he was the heir to a vast fortune.

People will always choose a simple lie over a complicated truth, because the lie has one unbeatable advantage: the truth always has to stick to what actually happened, whereas the lie just has to be easy to believe.
I think this has to be the best book I've read on depression. And not only because it is so well written but also because it is so relatable. Some of us may not be suffering from depression on that level but we do feel bouts of sadness, loneliness, emotional turmoil, rejection, inferiority, helplessness etc. The book feels like a companion who understands every one of these feelings and helps overcome it.

This is the first book written by the Author duo that I read and it won't be the last! Great plot, fast paced and just what you need to get you excited during these tough times! I was hooked from the beginning and found it hard to stop! Great writing and great twists! The authors hold the suspense throughout the book and you can't stop wondering what exactly is happening! I'm glad I picked this great thriller and now I'm hungry for more! 4/5
"Maybe in a few years I'll be able to explain things better, but after a few years it probably won't matter anymore, will it?"
Haruki Murakami, The Elephant Vanishes

“Plum blossoms, fresh shoots, prepared at Mariko‘s inn, with grated yam soup.”
“What is that?” I asked.
Sensei shook his head and lamented, “You don‘t know your Basho either?”
“That was Basho?” I asked again.
“Yes, it‘s Basho. I taught you his poetry, a long time ago,” he said. I had no recollection of learning that haiku.
Started listening to this! And I'm in love already!! Looks like a promising sequel to the amazinggg Beartown!
"There's only one sort of whiskey here but several types of sorrow."
This book is an emotional ride about life, death, relationships, family, values and of course, cats! .
The protagonist is diagnosed with terminal cancer and is told that he could die any day now. He is visited by the Devil and is offered one more day of life in exchange to one thing disappearing from the world.
It's an interesting take on how we don't value things when we have them, only to realize it's importance after we have lost them. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Taking my seat at the counter, I ordered “Tuna with fermented soybeans, fried lotus root, and salted shallots,” while the old man next to me requested “Salted shallots, lotus root fries, and tuna with fermented soybeans” almost simultaneously. When I glanced over, I saw he was staring right back at me.
Everyone dies eventually. The fatality rate is 100%. So when you think about it in that way, whether it‘s a happy death or an unhappy death depends on how you‘ve lived your life.
You can convince yourself to be happy or unhappy. It just depends on how you choose to see things.
“You only realize what the really important things are when you‘ve lost them.”
When you think about it, it‘s the future you‘ll never get to see that you regret missing the most when you die.
“There‘s something just as inevitable as death. And that‘s life.”
Reading goal 2020: Read all Murakami books!
Haruki Murakami is my favourite author and i have read Kafka on the shore(the best!!), Hard Boiled Wonderland and The End of the World, Desire, Men Without Women, South Of the Border West of the Sun, Norwegian Wood by him. And reading the rest is my top priority this year.
I also wish to do the popsugar challenge 2020 but I'm not too worried if i dont complete it because I'm also busy with college.
This was such a great read. I thought it'll be a cutesy story but boy was it emotional!! I alternated between my Kindle and the audiobook narrated by George Blagden and i absolutely loved the audiobook. The story is about a street cat Nana who is adopted by a kind hearted man Satoru . Years later he is unable to keep the cat with him so they go on a road trip to find a new parent for Nana. The story narrated by Nana makes it even more interesting.
When you're obsessed with a country and you buy anything and everything related to it💗💗
So i need to read a couple of novellas to complete my Goodreads reading challenge. Starting with The Travelling Cat Chronicles! A book that has been on my tbr since forever. I love Japlit and i love cats. So I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed. Do you have some good novella recommendations?
Started this for a book club. Reading chapter 2. What are your thoughts about the book?💙
Starting this humongous book!
Neither those who praise us nor those who denigrate will remain in the world for long, and others who hear their opinions will be gone in short order as well. Just who should we feel ashamed before, then? Whose is the recognition we should crave? Fame in fact attracts abuse and slander. No, there is nothing to be gained from leaving a lasting name. The lust for fame is the third folly.
This was a cute graphic novel to which i could relate completely as an introvert 😁
Haha😂😂
Is there anything sexier than Mike Angelo reading a book!😍
And so, watching the new year dawn in the sky, you are stirred by a sense of utter newness, although the sky looks no different from yesterday‘s.
It is a most wonderful comfort to sit alone beneath a lamp, book spread before you, and commune with someone from the past whom you have never met.
What happiness to sit in intimate conversation with someone of like mind, warmed by candid discussion of the amusing and fleeting ways of this world … but such a friend is hard to find, and instead you sit there doing your best to fit in with whatever the other is saying, feeling deeply alone
If our life did not fade and vanish like the dews of Adashino‘s graves or the drifting smoke from Toribe‘s burning grounds, but lingered on for ever, how little the world would move us. It is the ephemeral nature of things that makes them wonderful.
Status and personal appearance are things one is born with, after all, but surely the inner man can always be improved with effort.
