panWe listened to this one as we roadtripped for Thanksgiving. This is a book I would never pick to read normally, but it‘s a good road trip book because it is nonstop. It literally feels like the big, final action scene over & over. That being said, it‘s not well written: I hate how he writes/describes women, and he used the insult “stick it up your ass” so many times. So it kept us awake, but I‘d never recommend it.
pickThis is Book 7 of the Cotton Malone series. It was an enjoyable read but my only complaint is the constant shifting from one perspective of the story to another. It did not allow for proper flow of the story. I enjoyed learning about the privateers, the Jefferson Wheel and the privateers part in the different presidential assassinations which is fiction but made for an interesting plot-line. I do enjoy the historical aspect of these books.
so-soI normally enjoy Steve Berry's style of fast paced writing, he usually keeps the story moving along really well. However, I struggled with this entry in the Cotton Malone series, as it is not so much an adventure this time as a struggle to protect the President from an historical threat. I found that it didn't capture my attention and I did find my interest waning I hope that the next instalment revitalises my love of this series.

I‘ve started reading The Jefferson Key, Which is book 7 in the Cotton Malone Series, as part of a Group Read. David Baldacci describes it as ‘one of the most spellbinding and ingenious openings in all of thrillerdom. Easily Cotton Malone‘s most epic, swashbuckling adventure‘. Certainly is an exciting and original beginning to the book.
On my way home tonight I walk over London Bridge looking forward to reading my book on the train when I spotted Santa‘s hat all lit up at St Katharine‘s Docks and I couldn‘t resist taking a pic 🎅
Starting my next Steve Berry book in the Cotton Malone series really enjoy these adventure stories a really nice easy fast paced read.

I liked the faster pace of this book and of the series in general. This book takes place mainly on US soil which is different than previous books. The action is believable and the inclusion of US history makes for interesting additives.
Doing much better with this one! The Cotton Malone books have more action and are quicker to get to it than the others (The Romanov Prophecy, The Columbus Affair). These may be formulaic but my personal reading payoff is greater.
