@TheReadingMermaid @jb72 @Andrew65 My weekend was complicated but at least I spent a couple of hours reading for the #24in48 readathon. I finished one YA contemporary book and started another book. I tried 😌

Andrew65 A great time especially given the weekend you sound as though you had. 👏👏👏👍 Thanks for playing along. (edited) 5y

I started this book last night and I‘m breezing through it. I loved Harding‘s ‘Florence & Giles‘ and this one here seems to be just as great.

Challenge | Day 05

I tried not to choose an obvious book or a very common character for this challenge.
Young Florence is very resilient in her struggle to learn how to read and her love of books (as we are). And I confess I was surprised at the end of this story!

This is the stand-alone sequel of Florence & Giles. I thought the story was great, with a nice twist in the end. I liked the characters and was glad to see a bit more of Florence and her life after the events of the first book. Although I have to say I hate this cover because it's extremely misleading and ugly. Both Florence & Giles and The Girl Who Couldn't Read fit the mystery, horror, psychological horror genres.

pilardib and I forgot to say the writing is a bit different in this one. The chapters are really short, but it works well with the pace of the story. 8y

I'm happy with my new books 😁 Got these at Bienal do Livro, a bookish event that happens twice a year at Sao Paulo. :)

Oh my gosh. This was so terrifying, so thrilling, so utterly brilliant! I really enjoyed this and that ending... WOW.

Reading this for #TBRTakedown and I'm really enjoying it so far! So many mysteries. It's a standalone sequel to Florence & Giles :D
