11 posts | 23 read | 2 to read
Mia Saunders needs money. A lot of money. She has one year to pay off the loan shark who has threatened her father s life and is coming after his unpaid gambling debts. One million dollars to be exact. Her mission is simple serve as a high-priced escort for her aunt s Los Angeles-based company and pay monthly against the debt. Spend a month with a rich man whom she doesn t have to sleep with if she doesn t want to? Easy money. Unlucky in love with a spirit that never gives up, this curvy motorcycle-riding vixen plans to get in, make her money, and get out. Part of that goal is keeping her heart locked up tight and her eye on the prize. At least that s the way it s supposed to go "

A co worker recommended this to me a few months ago after I mentioned I enjoy romances. She has been hounding me to read so we can discuss. Well...it is awful. I can't even finish it. I DO enjoy romance novels, and the more ??? the better, but this was just unreadable. Anytime an author uses the word "rosette" to describe a body part, I am out. And I will let you use your imagination on what body part that was.

This was just as much fun as I hoped it'd be. Beginner actress Mia has debts, so she agrees to spend a year as a high-priced escort. Every month she takes on a new assignment, and every month she learns something new about herself from her clients. By March, I was TOTALLY hooked.

Carlan does have a major problem with switching between past & present tense, often within the same sentence, but if you can look past that this is worth checking out.

I stopped off in the plaza long enough to finish the first Calendar Girl novella. The writing was rough in places--lots of awkward shifts between past and present tense, plus some misplaced commas and suchlike--but I had enough fun with the first story that I'm gonna dive straight into the next.

I dyed my hair fancy colours this morning. Now I'm gonna try to sink into the first Calendar Girl novella while I wait for it to dry so I can see the full effect.

I interrupted my evening of Deep, Serious Reading to go back to the thrift store and buy the Calendar Girl series. I passed on the books earlier today, but I kept wondering if they'd be as much cracky fun as they look. I downloaded a sample, and the odds seem good.

Books are $1 each or 5 for $4, so I had to pick another. I went with THE TRUE STORY OF AH Q because it covers an earlier historical period than all the other Chinese work I've read.

Doce meses. Muchas vidas. Un solo amor. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's not even a great book, but I kept reading. Guilty pleasure? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm really enjoying Calendar Girl 1. I'm still in January, but I can't wait to read more about Mia and the men she has to stay with. I'm lucky enough to have all the books so when I finish this one I can go directly to the next one 🙊 Have you read them? 🤓

I started reading this in Danish (a signed edition) and I love it so far! Such a catchy story/plot and it seems like a fairly easy read ☺

What can I say? The writing was not great to say the least, but after reading a book about the Armenian genocide I didn't a easy book. If you're looking for 50 Shades this book is not it. Honestly, I'll probably read the second one, but with regret.
