Shadmi didn't know about The Twilight Zone until 2009 as the original series didn't make it to Israel. He tells about the often glossed over emotional connection Serling had with the Zone and how it became an outlet for his war time trauma and conduit for addressing social and political issues. Fans of the Zone will appreciate this and new fans will gain a new view on the man who helped usher in television as a creative medium.

I'm a HUGE Twilight Zone fan and this was a recent addition to my collection of books on Serling and the Zone!

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I never really watched the series but my BF had me watch a few of the new ones with him. I told him I'd probably prefer the old ones, so he found one he thought would be right up my alley. Yesterday he played the one about the guy who just wanted to read and, holy hell, what an emotional rollercoaster for me! 😬🙄🤬😦😢😃😃😯😫😭😭😭 4y
IamIamIam @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick LOL, that's of the first ones I remember loving. I'm 3 episodes shy of having seen all 150+ episodes of the original series. There are so many good ones and Serling had a great eye for talent, giving Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont stories a new life on screen! Definitely look for more episodes! I feel like you'd be a devotee in no time!! 😍 4y
Nute I am a HUGE fan of the original Twlight Zone show like you. I have a dvd collection that I have watched several times. I have seen every episode of the original series. I am so excited about your current status of having only three episodes to go for the same accomplishment. We are kindred spirits!🤗 So this is a graphic novel bio about Rod Sterling? Stacking! 4y
Nute @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Oh yes! The Burgess Meredith Twilight Zone episode Time Enough at Last is my absolute favorite episode though it is bittersweet. (edited) 4y
IamIamIam @Nute Kindred spirits!!! 😂💜 Have you read Richard Matheson's short story collections? Serling adapted a number of his stories, and I'm sure you know the big ones, but Charles Beaumont was my big score last year! I got this and he's so twisted but in a great way!!! We went to the theaters last winter when they showed 6 remastered episodes. The Invaders stands as one of my top 10!! 😁 4y

Covering Rod Serling‘s World War II experience is an important part of what made his personality. Shadmi then covers how Serling fell into writing in college, his professional beginnings in New York, and the highs and lows of working in Hollywood.

I highly recommend this graphic novel for readers of biographies, history, and the entertainment industry.

I thank #NetGalley for the honor of reading this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

The author and artist of this work, took Rod Sterling‘s life and presented it as an episode of The Twilight Zone. And it was AMAZING. The reader is hoooked right from the start. We are on a plane with a long time before landing, and horror of all horrors no one brought a book. So Rod starts telling his story. I had no idea he was a paratrooper, or how hard he fought to control his stories.

LibrarianRyan I knew he wrote with amazing people and sci-fi juggernauts, but everything else was new to this reader. The story is a bit sad, but so were most TTZ episodes. But they made you think. The team behind this book did such an amazing job, a reader hears Rod in their head as they go panel to panel, they picture his iconic black and white works, and evoke the same emotions we get from revisiting the zone. A masterwork of graphic biography 5y
tjwill I loved this one too! 5y

IamIamIam HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!?! 5y
LibrarianRyan @IamIamIam It's not out til Oct 9 of this year. 5y
IamIamIam @LibrarianRyan 😂😂 Well, now... I'm sorry for yelling at you and I promise to get my shiz together... I am, however, extremely excited to be putting this first on my Christmas list. ❤ I... um... kind of like the Twilight Zone. Like a lot... a LOT a lot... 😁 5y
LibrarianRyan @IamIamIam I didn't take it as yelling, but as excitement. At least someone knows who it is. The new girl had no idea what I was talking about. 5y
IamIamIam @LibrarianRyan That's painful but it's definitely a generational thing. TZ was a short lived series in the early days of tv and Night Gallery was also wonderful but fads come and go and until the resurrection of this genre with Tales From the Crypt and Tales From the Darkside, TZ kind of fell off the map. I remember catching a marathon when we got in trouble one 4th of July, LOL. I was hooked on Matheson & Beaumont since I was 10! 5y
