Billypar Great selections! This stack has two that I read for the first time this year: The Bluest Eye and Red at the Bone, both excellent and very worthy of a re-read. 2d

BarbaraBB Maybe they are too violent to your taste indeed. I didn‘t realize that indeed there is hardly any violence in both Perfume and The Collector! 8h

Packer delivers a beautifully subtle story about relationships and how one incident can alter the course of your life. This book does a great job of exploring how our choices can change not only our lives, but also the lives of those we care about.

I felt the characters were honest and the situations they found themselves in relatable. Overall, a good read.

I WANTED to like this book.

But it just was not a book worth liking.

Mike suffers after a tragic diving accident, and when he is at his lowest, his “love” runs off in search of herself.

I did not connect with the characters at all, and probably you know how this is going to end just by one sentence description.

Not the book for me, and truthfully I wouldn‘t recommend it to anyone. Very slow. No real plot development. No twists.

No good.

This book made me so angry as it wrapped up. While it is beautifully written. The main character, Carrie, just upset me so much I almost bailed. Her choices were authentic but also very enraging . im glad i finished but dont know who i would rec this book too.

From page one the story is predictable. She‘s going to leave Mike but the accident halts that plan and then meets Kilty or whatever and from that moment they were bound to fall I love. Gave up after 100 pages and then read the last ten to see if I was right (I was)

This book presented itself to me in an airport at a time when I was dealing with a lot of unanswered questions. It helped me sort things out and played a big role in shaping my future. I forgot about this book for a long time and thought about it again recently. I may have to revisit Ann Packer.
