It‘s cold and wet today, so I figure I‘ll hike up inside to read, knit, and watch TV.
I‘m sad to report I don‘t love LORD OF EMPERORS the way I used to, but I‘m almost at the chariot race. I know that‘ll make it all worthwhile.

I couldn‘t resist LORD OF EMPERORS any longer. I started it late yesterday evening and carried on over an excellent breakfast (one of the best buns I‘ve made, paired with a stellar cappuccino).
This book astounds me. Kay has a way of conveying the most poignant sorrow, and hen putting that sorrow in perspective. God I can‘t get enough of this author. 🌳🕌📗 #quote #historicalfiction #canadianauthors
Do you ever read a scene, a moment, in a book that you just want to sit in and stay in forever? Add that to the fact that I am cozy in a heated blanket and my reading chair with a pupper at my feet and alone for the first time in days and I never want to move, or turn the page from this exact moment.
And now for my reward for doing all of the driving from Calgary to Edmonton and back again. Book, alone time, and my favourite locally made bath bomb. 🛁🌱☺️ #bath #bookbath
Enjoying some of my favourite treats and some alone time with this wonderful book on a quiet Friday night. We are going up to Edmonton for the weekend and there is lots to do, but for now, rest. 🐍 #booksandtreats #treats
Finally diving into the sequel to Sailing to Sarantium! I thought this bit of mosaic tile at work would be appropriate for a book about a mosaic in a world based on early Constantinople. Guy Gavriel Kay is definitely my #newtoyoufavoriteauthors from 2017. An amazing Canadian author, I love everything I‘ve read by this man. And I‘m carefully rationing his books so that I don‘t read them all at once and get sad when there‘s no more. 😅
In honour of Canada Day, here're four of my favourite Canadian novels from my physical bookshelves.
