I am loving this book so much. As a goody it‘s fun to learn a bit about the origin of spices in America. Such a fun historical Fiction book!

The owner of a world renowned spice company butts heads with a botanist from the Smithsonian over a rare orchid in this story set in 1900 Washington D.C. Accepting an invitation to tour the hero‘s greenhouses means unwittingly becoming involved in political intrigue which has the heroine questioning her loyalties.
I really enjoyed the historical setting. This is published by a Christian imprint but isn‘t overly preachy. #ebook #historical
A quiet evening reading and trying to stay warm. I‘ve discovered that I can still tap to turn the page with my hand under the blanket! 🙃☺️

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
This quote from the Gospel of Mark is what came to mind as I sat down to write this review. Gray Delacroix is a man of means. In the aftermath of the Civil War, his father [...] started over and built an empire around the importation of various spices.

"Gray Delacroix has dedicated his life to building his very successful global spice empire, but it has come at a cost. Resolved to salvage his family before it spirals out of control, he returns to his ancestral home to save his brother and sister before it's too late.”
Truly this is a historical fiction not to be missed. There is a unique premise and plot filled with intrigue, espionage, twists and turns, as well as beautifully crafted characters and interesting historical information. Set in 1900 Alexandria, VA and Washington DC and Cuba, this book will take you on a journey of the heart where loyalties are tested in a world where spices rule and food industry is ungoverned.
