#AugustGrrrl #IHeardARumor Historical fiction about the bonds & complex relationships between sisters & families, partially narrated by 15-year-old Rumor. There was also plenty of rumor & innuendo about the exhibit her estranged aunt Addie takes part in with her nudist colony at the 1935 California International Expo at San Diego's Balboa Park. There was a real-life exhibit & I pulled a pic that covers most 'bits & pieces'+a pic of the 'peepers'😳

#Recommendsday A favorite read from last year. Historical fiction in an unusual setting-San Diego & the Zoro Gardens Nudist Colony Exhibit at the 1935 California International Exposition in 1935. Family secrets & the bonds between sisters & nieces, told from the POVs of Addie & her niece Rumor. Not always a happy read-there's some domestic & childhood sexual abuse, but hopeful & endearing. Blog review w/Grilled Cheese Egg-in-the-Hole Sandwich. ❤️
