Well that was an interesting experiment. There are poetic passages featuring the author's direct reflections on walking with which I could identify strongly. There were inclusions of certain philosophers and figures from history and their connection to walking that I found more or less informative. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/3 And then there were more spiritual leanings that had me gazing askance at the text, questioning the validity of their inclusion, as well as those prescriptive and proscriptive passages that felt like lectures on the proper way to walk, how to get the most benefit (verging into self help book territory) which had me rolling my eyes. 10mo

Robotswithpersonality 3/3 What I found relatable or enlightening was too far outweighed by what I found redundant, heavy-handed or irrelevant. Can't recommend. 10mo

My favorite workout currently, and pretty much always, is to go for a walk/jog outside. I do it year round, and have many different trails and routes that I like to take. Until about 4 years ago, I listened to music, but then I discovered audiobooks, and that was all she wrote. š‚

I loved this book! I‘m on a kick about walking and journeys right now, and this book hit the spot. Part personal rumination on various aspects of walking, part historical essays on philosophers‘ walking habits. This is a 4/5āļø¸ book for me only because there was no chapter on WALKING WITH DOGS! š¾ The book also does not consider issues such as safety while walking (a real consideration for women unfortunately) or environmental degradation. Read it!
