Billy and Scarlett have such a complicated history that of course it takes two books to deal with it. This is the backstory, way back when they were 16 and 14, respectively. This isn‘t as funny as the other books and I can understand why. These are the kids dealing with terrible situations and parents. It gives you a glimpse of where everyone started and how they became who they are.

I do not like prequels, but I am a completionist and I hate reading books out of order. (You can only imagine how annoyed I felt when I realized I should have read Reid's cozy mystery featuring Cletus Winston BEFORE I read Roscoe's book). With all that being said, it is a testament to the writing and my love for these characters that propelled me through this one and directly on to the next. I'm ready for Billy to get his happily ever after.

I love this series!! I think this might me my favourite couple though.

Beautiful and heartbreaking. A wonderful introduction to Billy and Scarlet(Claire). I can‘t wait to see how this ends.

This is a heartbreaking story of the beginning of a love story. So good, but a very tough read at times. I will eagerly start book 7 tomorrow so I can finish Scarlet and Billy‘s story. Though technically a standalone this is book 6 in the Winston Brothers series and best read in order. #romantsy

I knew I had to wait until Beard Necessities was out before I read BWM and now that they‘re both here, I‘ll get this emotional rollercoaster started

I love Penny Reid and the Winston family! This one “may” be my favorite because so much of the story starts here. I loved seeing where these characters came from, how they grew to know each other, where it all began. After finishing, I was torn between wanting to read book 7 immediately and wanting to start the series over again. If you love quirky, funny romances with real, complicated people, you must give this series a try! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
