This was a wonderful book focused on Sadia & 2 other Muslim girls, all immigrants to Canada. Mariam has started de-jabbing (changing clothes & removing her headscarf) at school, Sadia is set on continuing to wear hers even as it makes playing basketball more difficult, and Amira is a newly arrived refugee from Syria. Along with their classmates they deal with changing friendships and seeing a wider perspective through a class photography project.

This book (Sadia) is about a Muslim girl in highschool who needs to choose between continuing the game she loves in competitions but also taking off her hijab or leaving it on but quitting basketball. As her friends start de- hijabing she doesn‘t know what to do because her friends and her also start to get boy drama. If you like realistic fiction I would recommend this book.

MissYaremcio Thank you for coming to talk to me about this assignment Zoe. Great review! 5y

The book is about 2 girls who wear hijabs, one who takes it off, and one who leaves it on for school. The girl who takes off her hijab at school tries to pressure the girl who leaves hers on, to take it off and wear makeup. I am only about 10 pages into the story but I like it so far. It is a fast paced book as I keep wanting to find out more. If you like books that represent all people, you will like this one!

MissYaremcio Great job Jalila! This is on my to-read list! 5y
