10 Things I Hate About Pinky
10 Things I Hate About Pinky | Sandhya Menon
13 posts | 16 read | 4 to read
Pinky Kumar wears the social justice warrior badge with pride. From raccoon hospitals to persecuted rockstars, no cause is too esoteric for her to champion. But a teeny tiny part of her also really enjoys making her conservative, buttoned-up corporate lawyer parents cringe. Samir Jha might have a few . . . quirks remaining from the time he had to take care of his sick mother, like the endless lists he makes in his planner and the way he schedules every minute of every day, but those are good things. They make life predictable and steady. Pinky loves lazy summers at her parents' Cape Cod lake house, but after listening to them harangue her about the poor decisions (aka boyfriends) she's made, she hatches a plan. Get her sorta-friend-sorta-enemy - who is a total Harvard-bound Mama's boy - to pose as her perfect boyfriend for the summer. When Samir's internship falls through, leaving him with an unplanned summer, he gets a text from Pinky asking if he'll be her fake boyfriend in exchange for a new internship. He jumps at the opportunity; Pinky's a freak, but he can survive a summer with her if there's light at the end of the tunnel. As they bicker their way through lighthouses and butterfly habitats, sparks fly, and they both realize this will be a summer they'll never forget.

A YA fun read for #charactersarefrenemies for #booked2021. This book is the third in the Dimple and Rishi series but they can be read separately.

How to tell if your author‘s take on their main character is genuine 101: these are her SJW issues 😒

khooliha Good golly that's bad. Is it supposed to be bad? 3y
holarosarita @khooliha I… don‘t think so. I think it‘s just a really bad faith take. But I‘m only about halfway through. So 🤞 3y

Today was my first day of vacation for the holidays and I spent it reading this latest (final?) book in the series that started with When Dimple Met Rishi. This book is a lot like Dimple and Rishi, and that was fine with me. I think my favorite in the series in There‘s Something about Sweetie, but Pinky and Samir are also fun. Sometimes it‘s nice to read a low-stress YA novel.

I adored this fake dating of opposites that ended the way fake dating usually does. There's a brief snippet in DC which, um, does not resemble DC, but it moves to the MA shore for the rest. It was nice getting a look at Samir and Pinky in their own words.

I know there was a reason for it, but Pinky was super annoying to me for an entire book. That‘s said, I loved everything else.

Enjoyed this YA romance. Related to her earlier, When Dimple meets Rishi. #ARC #netgalley

I have never read a Sandhya Menon book that I didn‘t love and I felt the same way about this one! Pinky speaks out against social injustice. She dates boys her mom doesn‘t like. Pinky spends the summers in Cape Cod with her parents. After she is accused out setting fire to a barn she tells her mom she has a boyfriend her mom would love. Samir was supposed to be interning at a law firm in DC when it falls through at the same minute 👇🏻

Lovesbooks87 Pinky knows he is the perfect guy her mom would love. So she tell Samir that she could get him an internship at her parents law firm if he comes to Cape Cod and pretends to be her boyfriend for the same. I had so many laugh out laugh moments while reading this book. I am kind of sad that this is the last book in the dimple verse series. 4y
