I really enjoyed this somewhat fractious look at the original Trek series. Kinda sad that all of the rest of Trek only gets one book...

I am jumping the gun a hair on where I'm at, but I love that when Roddenberry finally got to make his post-TOS god being it was the obnoxious space jerk of my heart. I can't help but feel that Q wasn't exactly what he wanted.

The best way to read Harlan Ellison's endless moaning, is to have someone not putting up with that shit, one paragraph later

Reading this, volume one of a history of my personal religion. It's really good so far. It's also made me realize that I really want to read a biography of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez

Some of these stories I know very well, others not so much, some from only one perspective. This was fantastic and essential reading if you're a fan of Star Trek.

Easy to read oral history. A bit of a hodgepodge that doesn't always flow and sometimes repeats itself, but overall enjoyable and made me want to seek out volume two.

I got the brazilian edition to celebrate the 50 year anniversary!

This is exactly what I wanted to read to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek! Great behind the scenes stories told in a conversational way (it is an oral history, after all), covering the years from the first pilot to the sixth film. Surprisingly little Shatner bashing, but Gene Roddenberry doesn't come off great. Must read for all Trekkies. I can't wait for volume two (it covers TNG to Abrams)!

🔑 takeaway from the chapter on The Wrath of Khan? How bad it could have been. Some of the early story concepts were pretty awful. Also, despite seeing the film dozens of times, I don't think it ever really hit me that Kirk and Khan never once come face to face.

Decided to grab this one before heading to the airport because I figured it'd be a good read for waiting on flights, luggage, etc. It's an oral history, so it has an easy, conversational tone. Really enjoying it so far, and it has me wanting to watch some old Trek episodes when I finish traveling. 🖖🏼📖✈️

Just found out about this oral history of Star Trek! Two volumes, each covering 25 years of the series existence. Definitely something to check out as the fiftieth anniversary approaches!
