“She had left Harrowhawk a note on her vastly underused pillow—

HAHA. I might not know what‘s going on half the time in this book but I sure do love the ambiance.
Lesbian necromancers indeed 💀🖤💀
So I am working in the teen section of my library for the first time and browsing the collection down here and... the book I did an illustration in is ON THE SHELF. Completely without prompting. Unbelievable. Actually published 😮
If you‘re near Baltimore, The Underbridge Society is hanging out at FaerieCon all weekend! Spooky things, trolls and drag queens. I‘m selling art with mah frands.
Last convention of the season. Then a makers‘ rest.
It finally came in!! Starting it now!
This book sounds like so many things I love all in one and that makes me nervous, haha.
Went to the PA Renaissance Festival for the first time today! It....it seemed like the Disney World of Ren Faires, I think, lol.
Almost finished listening to this one. Wow. Did you know that randomly found horns were thought to be unicorn horns and could be used to test drinks for poison when royals were traveling?
This book makes your tum ache, not just from poison descriptions but also from the incurable illnesses of the time that were mistaken for poison.
Fascinating book. Also gross.
A very dear friend has released his first novel, A Queen of Blood and Glitter! I contributed fan art of our heroine to the book, yay. If you like the Fae, drag queens, sass and the fantastic, I highly recommend snagging a copy on Amazon.
Recovering from a big giant successful Troll Market yesterday at a friends before driving back to PA tomorrow. Everyone is still sleepy so I‘m getting my morning read in.
The coolest find from an Antique show last weekend. Everything else there was pretty overpriced and fancy. But I found Black Cat Fortune Telling cards from 1897. AND I HAD TO HAVE EM.
I‘m employed again, yay! I got a slightly better position at the library than the one I originally applied for, which feels really good.
Going to read this one tonight and try to tell my lizard brain that nothing is on fire and anxiety is dumb.
Currently listening to and available on Hoopla for all you card slingers. A more no-nonsense approach amongst the woo-woo books.
Just had a job interview with the library here. And after they told me the pay rate, I must drown my sorrows in the library holds that came in.
I found a pen shop in my new town and holy wow, such wonders. Just in time for Inktober.
I got an E+M mechanical pencil with thick lead and a new dip pen with excellent range of motion.
Not strictly book related but I know you all love some writing/drawing tools as much as I do.

More unauthorized book buying.
On a nostalgia kick right now (or always) and have been thinking about 80s fantasy films. I love Willow and somehow never read these follow up books! Luckily the local used bookstore had them all.
Having a used bookstore within walking distance is not going to be good for my budget.
My very first check out at the library system here.
But I have quickly realized that I need to own this book. It‘s a gorgeously illustrated biography about the artist who basically repopularize the tarot. ALL HAIL PAMELA COLMAN SMITH.
I am STILL READING Pillars of the Earth. It‘s big.
But also, Harold and the Purple Crayon shirt.
I‘ve been listening to a few books about medieval history while reading Pillars of the Earth since the world feels so rich.
This one was pretty entertaining, although the author seemed pretty scornful of the time period! The descriptions of noteworthy people were interesting though. I thought he was weirdly focused on Magellan until the afterward noted that the book itself began as an intro for a biography on him. Oh.
Caught some kind of flu when I got back from the beach so haven‘t read a whole lot. Finally on the mend though.
The good news is, this book was finally released! I illustrated a Robot Repair Girl story in this collection. I think it‘s my first time being officially published. Happy day.
If you like books about women in the sciences, check out this collections.

BEACH READING, I MADE IT!
But sometimes this is as close as I get to actually reading on the beach, haha. Sand is an unpleasant sensory feel.
Thoroughly enjoying this book so far.
I‘m visiting an aunt on my way to the beach. I made her this mug when I took a pottery class so it‘s fun to use it when I‘m here. Wish I could make more useful things like this.
When your tarot collection needs it‘s own special bookcase.
