2-15-21: My 17th finished book of 2021! This lovely story takes place in the summer of 1951 and the summer of 2017. In 1951, Betty is 18 and spending one last summer helping out at her grandparents resort. In 2017, Betty, also known as Boop, is reminiscing with her best friends about that fateful summer when her life changed dramatically. This story brought a few tears to my eyes but many more smiles. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣7️⃣

Ugh! 🤰🏼&👶 as plot. Getting into 'trouble' in 1951 is one thing. Your choices were few. Getting pregnant in 2017 - When you have a career & long term boyfriend but can't decide if the time is right? Honestly I just don't care about your drama. End of story tied everything up with a syrupy sweet bow. ⬇️
Beautiful cover. Which is why I picked it as Amazon Prime Free Read. Glad I didn't pay money for it.

Crinoline_Laphroaig If you like Family Drama you may like this one. I did like the Summer Beach Resort ala Dirty Dancing setting. But feel like this story has been done so many times. 4y

A friend invited me to her book club. I am going because they're Social Distancing, Masking AND reading Enma. You can never have to much Austen in your life! Will probably skim my favorite bits and do a thorough reread with #pemberlittens.
Also trying to finish up #summerstack before Labor Day. Keeping up with #prideandprejudicereadalong and #countdowntothelostbookofthewhite.

Just finished The Overdue Life of Amy Byler (good book especially for book lovers) and moving on to The Last Bathing Beauty. Looking forward to it!

Vicki1109 Just finished the book. It was good. Maybe not my favorite, but I enjoyed reading about a Midwestern summer resort in the '50s. 5y

Pickpick

4/5

The story of Betty, age 18 and, as she was later known, Boop at 85, alternating between her last summer before college and what should be her last summer in the family home in Michigan.

Betty falls for Abe, who was unsuitable. When she “gets in trouble,” choices must be made. Boop reflects on a long life and how things could have gone when her town prepares for a beauty pageant not held since she won it in 1951.

Everything seemed possible in the summer of 1951. Back then Betty Stern is an 18 year old knockout working at her grandparents' resort. On the precipice of a well-planned life, Betty‘s future was limitless. Decades later, the choices of that long-ago season still reverberate for Betty. Maybe in reconciling the life she once imagined with the life she‘s lived, she will discover it‘s never too late for a second chance.
