May #ThematicCozies: Flowers/ Garden. I love how in cozy mysteries small towns have everything. Bookstore, bakery, yoga studio, fitness center, etc.

Enjoyable read. Little unbelievable how police handled murder inquiry. Not bumbling which would have made story silly but bit lackadaisical. But it works because it's a cozy. Will continue to read seasonally. And will pick on for June Prompt: Celebrations.

🎞 1940s P & P. I could let it go that the clothes and hair are all wrong, if they hadn't cut so much of the story. It made Elizabeth and Darcy falling in love come out of nowhere.

It's been a long time since I rewatched the complete Masterpiece Theatre 1980 P & P that introduced teenage me to Jane Austen. I liked Elizabeth! Had forgotten how uptight Darcy was in this one. ⬇️

Classic Martha vs New Martha. Martha Stewart's Gardening Month by Month is old favorite of mine. Yes it's a bit dated, but I'm always inspired by it. I usually flip through whatever month we are in. Plus it has seasonal recipes.

I was excited to get my hands the first new Martha gardening book in 30 years - Martha Stewart's Gardening Handbook. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig Beautiful book. Garden photography has come a long way. Appreciated graphics of things like Companion Planting. Favorite part was the Monthly Calendars at the end. While it's very informative, feels geared more towards the newer gardener. Would be a perfect gift for someone who's just starting to garden. I enjoyed it, but I'm glad I got a copy from my Library rather than purchasing. I'm sticking with Classic Martha in my Gardening Library. 👩🏻‍🌾 1mo

I don't read a ton of Manga but I'm always disappointed. You start with a few pages of beautiful I color artwork and then goes to black and white. It's such a a letdown.

I didn't particularly like the artwork in this. Charlotte looked liked evil doll. I'm not sure what Magnus was supposed to look like. If I hadn't read original I don't think I would have been able to keep up with story.

Maybe Manga just isn't for me.

#PemberLittens for discussion of Pride & Prejudice! Answer here or make your own post just tag me so I see it. My answers:

1️⃣ Swapped between print and audiobook read by the fabulous Rosamunde Pike. Umpteenth reread. When I first started tracking my reading with Goodreads, I estimated that I had read P & P every other year since I was 14. Using that low estimate plus actually keeping track since 2017, makes this my 20th time reading. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig One thing that has changed over the years is how I view Mr Bennet. Younger me laughed at his quips. Older me realizes he wasn't a very good father. Mostly he just hides in his library and ignores his family.

2️⃣ Always Elizabeth. She taught teenage me to never let anyone bully you into something you know is not right for you. Secondly Mrs Gardiner for how she is there for her nieces. ⬇️

2mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig 3️⃣ I started 2 Chapters a day but when I got to Pemberley, I sat down with a cup of tea and binge read to the end. All of Volume 3 is my favorite.

4️⃣ All classics. Whenever I read or watch an adaptation I always want to see how the opening line is used: “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." ⬇️

2mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig To Pemberley, therefore, they were to go.” Whenever I read this, I know I'm to my favorite part.

And of course: “Obstinate, headstrong girl! As a teenager, I was inspired by this to think for myself.

5️⃣ I'd dance with Mr Collins, if it meant I going to Netherfield Ball. ⬇️
2mo
See All 7 Comments
Crinoline_Laphroaig 6️⃣ Lady Catherine. Once she's talking you could pretty much just eat your meal with occasional reply. Caroline is sly. You'd have to be ready at all times to respond to her snarky comments.

7️⃣ This was a great discussion question that was asked in group. I lean towards Willoughby being the worst because he left a young woman pregnant. Although I'm sure the Wickham would have done the same.⬇️
2mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig 8️⃣ Tea with Elizabeth, Mrs Gardiner, and Georgiana at Pemberley. No Bingley sisters allowed.

9️⃣ I love Pride and Prejudice 'most ardently'. I'm always happy to reread it. 🎩
