This is a lovely exploration of perspective, perception, and the passage of time. A rock can be so much more than a rock-it has a unique purpose for all living things 💗

4.8/5🪨

If you love the infamous Eric Carle and his art style, you will absolutely love A Stone Sat Still. In fact, Brendan Wenzel, the author of this piece is currently featured in the Eric Carle museum at the gift shop. This story is unique because instead of the main character going on a journey, the journey comes to the main character. Who is the main character? A single stone that can be viewed from many angles.

AndreaEfres As for elementary education, this story is great for early readers in grades 1 and 2. It can be used for growing vocabulary knowledge for concepts of color, size and function.

It would be a great idea to use this book for Reading/English class time because it teaches the reader to decipher figurative language, comparing and contrasting elements, linking cause and effect, and looking at perceptions.
