pickI requested this from #NetGalley on a whim, and I could NOT stop reading it. Flew through it in two days. The book is based on a single mention of an enslaved woman who was on Francis Drake's ship in 1579 when he was looking for a new passage around the Americas. Hair-raising adventure indeed.

Aimeesue @jillrhudy Hmmmmm. I think most of the interpersonal violence is *implied* or threatened rather than a direct representation. Or it's talked about in fairly vague terms if it's in the past. 4y
