Die Like an Eagle
Die Like an Eagle: A Meg Langslow Mystery | Donna Andrews
6 posts | 14 read | 5 to read
The brilliantly funny Donna Andrews delivers another winner in the acclaimed avian-themed series that mystery readers have come to love. The nineteenth book in her New York Times best-selling series continues to surprise and delight in this next knee-slapping adventure featuring Meg Langslow and all the eccentric characters that make up her world. Meg is Team Mom and Michael is coach of their twin sons' youth baseball team, the Caerphilly Eagles. Meg tangles with Biff Brown, the petty, vindictive league head. On opening day, Biff's lookalike brother is found dead in the porta-potty at the ball field. So many people think Biff's scum that it would be easy to blame him, but he has an alibi--and Meg suspects he may actually have been the intended victim. With Die Like an Eagle, readers can look forward to another zany Meg Langslow mystery--this one filled with the spirit of America's pastime and Donna's eagle eye. Like Meg Langslow, the blacksmith heroine of her series, Donna Andrews was born and raised in Yorktown, Virginia. She introduced Meg to readers in her Malice Domestic Contest-winning first mystery, Murder with Peacocks, and readers are still laughing. This novel swept up the Agatha, Anthony, Barry, and a Romantic Times award for best first novel, and a Lefty for funniest mystery.

Who knew little league Summerball could be so contentious - and deadly??

Fortunately, Meg is there to straighten things out! She, along with Chief Burke and Mayor Randall Shiffley keep Caerphilly running smoothly. It‘s a little stressful that Meg takes on so much, but so satisfying that she and her notebook-that-tells-her-when-to-breathe can get so much done! In this case, cleaning up the ball field (literally and figuratively!)

I've been enjoying this cozy quirky mystery series for a number of years now but this is the first time I've ever listened to an audio version of one of the books. I have to say I enjoyed it 😊

I love this cozy mystery series, and this is the best installment in a while! the first 6 or so were awesome, then they got stale for a while, and now Meg Lanslow's character is getting back in stride. I wish I'd read this in the spring (I like to read books in the time-of-year they are set; it's a quirk of mine). Also, I want more of Meg's crazy family!

Hadn't read this series in awhile, but this is a really well written cozy. The picture is one I took from the live cam of the Hanover, PA eagles in January of this year.

[DELETED] 2232195534 I like this series, but I am way behind on it. Got to meet Donna Andrews at a mystery conference this spring. That was fun. Love the picture. 8y

Suzze @kaysreadinglife I actually know Donna. But I don't want her to know I don't read all of her books. LOL I haven't had the $$ to go to any mystery conferences in awhile. Used to go to Bouchercon as much as I could. 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 @Suzze I got to go to Left Coast Crime this spring. My first conference. What a blast! Loved it. Got to ask Donna about her Turing Hopper series and if there would be any more of them. Have a mystery book group member who is obsessed with those books! 8y
Suzze @kaysreadinglife I so loved the Turing Hopper books. Miss 'em. 8y
