pickGosh, I inhaled this one. Just... all in one go. I love David Cyprian, and Richard's an idiot, but a principled one which makes me warm to him. I cannot honestly complain about a thing in this book.

2. I loved it soooooo much, y'all. Soooooo much.
3. Onions. You keep that crap out of my food unless it's COMPLETELY melted down.
4. I played softball for a little while when I was a kid. These days, I'm trying to become a runner.
pickI kind of want to type !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! until Litsy tells me I've hit the character limit, because WOW. Charles takes two guys who're desperately in love with one another, establishes that their relationship CANNOT work due to the power imbalance between them, and proceeds to show us how they negotiate their way around every challenge their differing classes, and personalities, present. I could hardly bear to put it down.
I've gotta go to sleep because I'm tired and my eyes are soooooooore from all the smoke in the air, but all I want to do is keep reading.

I'm gonna be so sad when I finish this series. Thank goodness I've stockpiled three other books for my KJ Charles-a-thon and can borrow three more from the library. I MIGHT pause for a Courtney Milan break after this one, though, just to add another voice to this socially aware historical romance binge of mine.
pickYesssssss everything KJ Charles writes is like catnip for me. Class differences! Amazing historical accuracy! Reappearances from characters from earlier books! Queerness! Seriously. Queerness everywhere. What a mood improver. 😊
It's a rainy day in Singapore so I felt like having soup for lunch. One of my favorite local dishes is fish soup! pickKJ Charles hit it out of the park with her historical m/m romance series Society of Gentlemen. The series wraps up in A Gentleman's Position and I therefore wouldn't recommend it as a starting point, but the trilogy is well worth reading. I enjoyed the focus on issues of agency and appreciated that both characters have their own sort of power, even if they're not of equal social standing.
