Anti/Hero
Anti/Hero | Kate Karyus Quinn, Demitria Lunetta

Piper Pjaro and Sloane MacBrute are two 13-year-old girls with very different lives but very similar secrets. Popular, outgoing Piper is strong-like, ripping-the-doors-off-cars strong. She longs to be a superhero, even if she tends to leave massive messes in her wake. Sloane, on the other hand, is snarky and super-smart. Like, evil-genius smart. To help her family, she has to put those smarts to use for her villainous grandfather. When a mission to steal an experimental technological device brings the two girls face to face with each other, the device sparks-and the two girls switch bodies! Now they must live in each other's shoes as they figure out a way to switch back. Anti/Hero is a story that explores what makes a hero, how one can find friendship where it's unexpected, and what it means to walk in another person's shoes...literally! Authors Kate Karyus Quinn (Another Little Piece, The Show Must Go On) and Demitria Lunetta (The Fade, Bad Blood) make their graphic novel debut alongside artist Maca Gil and introduce two new and exciting DC characters!

What a fun graphic novel and introduction of middle grade superheros/villans. Everything about this worked. The illustrations feel like marvel but look like Marigold. Plus the story would have universal appeal and hits many diversity points that makes it almost perfect for everyone. I hope there is a sequel and that I can get my hands on it soon.

Finished this on Thanksgiving day and I‘ll mail it out when the post office opens again here on Monday. I don‘t want to say too much cause this is my #lmpbc book and I‘m the first to read it, but I really enjoyed this one!

That‘s one of my #feastmode goals accomplished!

This kid was in a foul mood until he spotted the graphic novel I brought home to read. He curled up with it and an hour later he was a much more reasonable person, the previous woes forgotten.

He‘s almost 12 and books have turned his mood around since he was a baby. Books are such a great reset tool- for all ages!

Graphic novel about a teenage superhero and villain who accidentally switch bodies Freaky-Friday-style. Cute and enough substance to introduce new superheroes to kids at the library (typically heroes you‘ve never heard of are a hard sell, just because the market is so saturated). Though why DC has to shoehorn Batman into everything is beyond me. #middlegrade #comics

emtobiasz Plus, it‘s on #hoopla! Go forth and use your library resources— it‘s almost the end of the month! 5y
