Told in verse, I found this to be powerful and poignant. Cordelia always felt like an outsider from her family and learning that the man who raised her isn‘t her bio dad sends her spiraling as she tries to come to terms with what it all means. I loved the focus on what family really means, how being different isn‘t all bad, and the power of friendship.

3✨ I read this pretty fast in August and never wrote a review. I‘m not completely sure how I felt about it. The storyline was really interesting, but it fell apart because of some lack in character development.

3.4⭐️ OK, so I‘m not going to be of the popular opinion here. But this book just didn‘t do it for me. It had so much amazing potential. I loved the poems and being part of the characters conversations. However, there was such a lack of meat in this book that I couldn‘t truly connect with the story. I plan to read more books by this author, I just don‘t like the formatting of this one because it felt incomplete to me.

Wow, I flew through this in one evening! Cordelia‘s search for her identity and struggle to determine where she fits in her family, in her friendships, and in her poetry was painful and beautiful to experience. I especially appreciated the glimpses into the stories of those around her because, after all, we don‘t exist in a vacuum and everyone has gone through something, too. I loved the culmination and resolution of the book. I bawled.
