Pemberley Ranch
Pemberley Ranch | Jack Caldwell
When the smoke has cleared from the battlefields and the civil war has finally ended, fervent Union supporter Beth Bennet reluctantly moves with her family from their home in Meryton, Ohio, to the windswept plains of Rosings, Texas. Handsome, haughty Will Darcy, a Confederate officer back from the war, owns half the land around Rosings, and his even haughtier cousin, Cate Burroughs, owns the other half. In a town as small as Rosings, Beth and Will inevitably cross paths. But as Will becomes enchanted with the fiery Yankee, Beth won't allow herself to warm to the man who represents the one thing she hates most: the army that killed her only brother. But when carpetbagger George Whitehead arrives in Rosings, all that Beth thought to be true is turned on its head, and the only man who can save her home is the one she swore she'd never trust... "It's Pride and Prejudice meets Gone with the Wind-with that kind of romance and excitement." -Sharon Lathan, bestselling author of In the Arms of Mr. Darcy

Rather than the heat of battle, a cold mistrust pervaded the place as the people divided themselves into two camps: those who believed the tale of ... , and those who did not. The official explanation of the crime was #championed by George Whitehead and Judge Phillips. Those who harbored doubts looked to William Darcy for leadership. Sheriff Lucas was caught in the middle. #Champion #QuotsyFeb20

Knightly laughed lightly. “I imagine so, as we‘ll be running the rail line right through your property. But we want more than to purchase the right-of-way. We need #visionary investors to carry this new company forward. I hope you will join us.” #QuotsyJan20

Pickpick

I read that this was "Pride and Prejudice meets Gone With the Wind" ???

A random find and what a fun ride! This isn't an exact retelling. This isn't literary fiction. What it IS is: the recognizable backbones of the P&P that we love (characters, estates). A horse-riding, rancher Darcy! There are also post-Civil War themes, a Texas setting, a shoot-out, and typical North vs South prides + prejudices thrown in.

CHARMED. I was charmed by this.

Karen3 This sounds sooo good. 8y
Peddler410 I am two episodes away from finishing Pride & Prejudice on Serial Reader. So, I'm adding this to my TBR stack. 8y
