But the little girl is not upset because she has the game that her father invented and taught her how to play, The Glad Game. Its an easy and at the same time rather intricate ability to fend something to be glad about in a smallest piety thing. Pollyanna Grows Up by Eleanor H. Pickpick

This was a low pick - I did expect something a little more than “glad” forty times on every page! Still, I enjoyed it pretty well and might read the sequel eventually. I have vague memories of the movie, but I know my mom likes it.

#bookspin done for May - I actually read them both this month!

TheBookHippie 🙃 I read a little everyday that probably helps 😅 I‘ve never seen the movie! 3y
megnews I watched this movie at least twice a month growing up. 3y
TheAromaofBooks I enjoyed the original story & had mixed feelings about Pollyanna Grows Up, which is basically two books put together with a huge gap of years in the middle. I also really enjoyed Pollyanna of the Orange Blossoms, about her wedding and early years as a bride, although that one was actually written by a different author! 3y

“Mrs Snow had lived forty years, and for fifteen of those years she had been too busy wishing things were different to find much time to enjoy things as they were.”

I‘m coming up on 40 this year, and I don‘t really like this idea of the old sick woman being just 40. I got the impression (not stated) she was older. I guess maybe I‘m...older...than I used to be. 🤨

TheBookHippie Life expectancy 50 for men 55 for women in 1913 when this was written !!! I think you find yourself and your center in your 40s 🤍. I had a baby 🤣🤣. 3y
tpixie @ravenlee 40 is the new 20! I was surprised the curmudgeon Ove was only 50! 3y
