Mehso-so

The first book, A Boy‘s Will, was nice. I could have just read that book and been fine. It was all downhill from there. It got to the point where I could guess the rhyming word as soon as I heard the first one. Some of the poems were long and meandering, seeming to lose all their meaning. I‘m glad I tried Frost, but he‘s not my cup of tea for the most part.

GingerAntics @TheBookHippie not really a Frost fan either. Some of it seemed ridiculously simplistic (like something I‘d write) and other poems seem to wander almost aimlessly. 4y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics 🤣👏🏼🤷🏽‍♀️ I just don‘t get the hype - I agree with your synopsis- however poetry is so personal I‘ll just assume this isn‘t meant for me. Instead of my snobby answer of its for someone less deep. 🤣🤣🤣 4y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie 🤣😂🤣 yeah, that‘s probably the best way to put it. It‘s just not my cup of tea. I‘ll be over here with a different type of tea. The first book wasn‘t bad. I enjoyed it and can go as far as saying I could potentially see myself reading it again sometime, but the rest of it, no thank you. I need a little milk in my tea. 😏 4y

I REALLY like this one. It took some doing to get the whole thing in one post.

My next poetry book is Robert Frost. I managed to get this book which has all three of his first books in it, plus some of the poetry that appeared in later volumes.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

GingerAntics #RobertFrost #TheRoadNotTaken #poetry #hiking #nature Photo taken on my hike this afternoon. It was a beautiful, wonderful day to be outdoors and there was just no way I was staying in. I totally understand why people want to write poetry about the natural world. If I could write poetry to save my life, I‘d probably write some nature poetry too. Maybe even some poems about the ocean (I do love the ocean). 😏 (edited) 5y
Mccall0113 I read this poem at my sisters funeral 💙 5y
GingerAntics @Mccall0113 oh wow, that‘s beautiful and heartbreaking. Great time for this poem, though. It‘s very introspective and philosophical. (edited) 5y
