She is such a real, messy teenager, who makes mistakes and fails to see things clearly, but she's also smart and has a lot of heart. I loved the bi representation (I don't think I've seen internalized biphobia as a romance obstacle before?). Character growth! Romantic! Lovely side trans girl character! Funny!

Gonzales is clearly in love with her characters and as a result they jump off the page imperfections and all. I love Darcy and Brougham and loved every second of this YA romance. The quote pictured is the moment I bawled.

There‘s a certain satisfaction when your book and outfit match this well.

This was pretty cute! I really liked Darcy, who was an observant, funny narrator. Her friendships were complex, & they grew in depth as the story progressed. The relationship development between her & the love interest was sweet & well paced. Plot-wise, the last third of the book kind of fizzled out for me. Predictable, but still a cute romcom with great bi rep. ★★★½.

This book was so surprisingly wonderful in every way. I happened to find out about it from a Twitter interaction that randomly appeared on my timeline involving Sophie Gonzales, but I am SO thankful I went ahead and blindly took the recommendation. I finished this book in 72 hours. The representation, the diversity, the pure humor and wit.. everything was perfect. I cannot recommend this book enough. It has surrounded my heart with comfort.

Perfect On Paper should be called Perfect Anywhere. It is a call to EVERYONE no matter what they identify as, telling EVERYONE that they are Perfect no matter what they feel to the contrary, no matter what they are told or who they love or what society has them feeling. It tackled relevant & complicated scenarios, ones they named, addressed, dissected & conquered coherently. It's all about acceptance & I'm happy just knowing that it exists.

Finished this last night and haven't been able to get it out of my head since. I'll be writing an actual review of this closer to publishing day (March 9) but for now I'm just here to say that if you like contemporary YA rom-coms with positively delightful bi-rep, please keep Perfect on Paper on your radar because it brought me so much joy and I want everyone to feel this. This is one of the best #LGBTQIA books I‘ve read and an excellent YA novel. You know a book‘s got you hooked when you actually care about the characters, when you‘re rooting for them even when they do something stupid and when you stay up late because you just have to know what happens. This book was all of those things and more. Highly recommended. I received an #ARC in exchange for an honest review. #NetGalley
