Just Like That (Original)
Just Like That (Original) | Cole McCade
2 posts | 6 read | 1 to read
Summer Hemlock never meant to come back to Omen, Massachusetts... But with his mother in need of help, Summer has no choice but to return to his hometown, take up a teaching residency at the elite Albin Academy--and work directly under the man who made his teenage years miserable. Professor Fox Iseya. Forbidding, aloof, commanding: psychology instructor Iseya is a cipher who's always fascinated and intimidated shy, anxious Summer. But that fascination turns into something more when the older man challenges Summer to be brave. What starts as a daily game to reward Summer with a kiss for every obstacle overcome turns passionate, and a professional relationship turns quickly personal. Yet Iseya's walls of grief may be too high for someone like Summer to climb...until Summer's infectious warmth shows Fox everything he's been missing in life. Now both men must be brave enough to trust each other, to take that leap. To find the love they've always needed... Just like that. Mehso-so

This was between a So-So and a Pan for me. This reads like fan fiction. Which is fine, but that's not my jam. Especially like fan fiction between Hot Neville and Snape from the HP series. There was a lot of biting of lips, lots of mysteriously long anime like hair, and the relationship goes from 0 to 100 in about 3 weeks. Plus Summer Hemlock? Fox? As my one friend said, Fox Mulder is the only Fox she recognizes. Made for a good book club talk!

Clare-Dragonfly My book club has noticed that we have more fun discussions when not all of us like the book. Maybe I should nominate this one 😆 4y

Oh gosh, the way Cole McCade uses the word ennui to create such rich setting is just unfair. Or great. Delightful story of a former student returning as a teaching assistant at to the teacher he had such a crush on back in the day.
