I‘m about to whistle through some picture books by celebrity authors for #BBRC. Count yourself warned.

This was gorgeous and gorgeously odd. One of those where the pictures couldn‘t be more perfect for the text. A tale to read aloud for older picture book readers (5-8 maybe).

A mysterious old lady comes to stay in Mabel‘s parents B&B. Despite a rocky start, they end up sailing pirate ships, meeting mermaids, and becoming firm friends.

I mean... that‘s the obvious conclusion 🤣

“I‘m just going upstairs for a book!” I shouted.
“In a spy costume?” my dad asked.
“I‘m wearing a raincoat and sunglasses because the weather forecast is varied,” I said.
“Whatever you say, Mabel,” Dad replied.

Needed a short audiobook to see me home on my commute before my next hold came through and this was it. A cute story, the best part though is the name “Madame Badobedah” such a satisfying word to say!
