Wow- what a great read! I got this digital arc a long time ago and am annoyed I didn‘t read it sooner - but it is PERFECT for this time of year. I love that it‘s set in Halloween and is spooky but not typically witchy. Super fast paced, not a dull moment. A big weird haunted house, random weird fantastical animals, creepy grown ups and friends sticking together to solve a frightening mystery, this book has it all.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley.

This was ridiculously good. Far better and more complex than I would have expected from a MG novel (though, I‘ve read several really good ones). It was extremely clever & so much mystery & intrigue! Plus, it was the perfect Halloween book!

This is a good creepy MG series starter (second is out, I‘m guessing there will be two more). It reminded me a LOT of Katherine Arden‘s Small Spaces, and KA is mentioned in the acknowledgements so that kinda made sense.

Eleanor sees wrong things, things nobody else sees. New in town, she finds Pip and Otto who also see wrong things. They have more in common than they realize, and only together can they save themselves. Good October read.

I enjoyed this middle grade novel that would be perfect for fans of Coraline and Katherine Arden. The characters didn‘t read like fully realized kids, but the writing and creation of a creepy atmosphere were spot on.

I could not put this book down…I was hoping it wasn‘t a series, but, there‘s obviously going to be another one. Hope it‘s as good as the first!

“Every thirteen years in the town of Eden Eld, three thirteen-year-olds disappear.” Eleanor, Pip, and Otto discover some supernatural disturbances...then face the task of breaking the Halloween curse for which they are targeted.
4/5⭐️ A fun and lightly spooky tale for teens/middle school. This is my #doublespin selection for January.

This was a fun but creepy middle grade novel, perfect for Halloween. 12 year old Elle has recently moved in with her aunt & uncle after a tragic event occured between herself & her mother. The town where she now lives has a horrible curse on it dating over a century back. Unfortunately, Elle & her 2 new friends are in danger. Based on the ending, I would bet we see a sequel, hopefully around next Halloween. 🎃💀
