Every now and then, it's time for an easy, entertaining and straightforward read. As others have said, it definitely takes from the Bridget Jones genre and follows Nell as she navigates her post 40 life, post break up and tries to find her way through loss, friendship and family. I found this a comforting and funny read, and well paced. Just the right side of lighthearted with well written moments of pain and realism.
My birthday book 🎂 finished Today , will be passing this one on. Bridget Jones vibes , loved Nell the main character, funny , refreshing and perfectly predictable in the right places 💕 . Put a big smile on my face . Just what you need at the end of the day when life is a bit hectic 😁
Reminds me Bridget Jones 4 out next February 🙌 🥂

A funny, but heartfelt & relatable story often serves as a welcome “palate cleanser“ of sorts between thrillers & intense historical fiction. Thanks to Harper Perennial & Bibliolifestyle, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐲-𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅** 𝐔𝐩 by 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 is going into my suitcase to read poolside during my upcoming vacation! It sounds perfect for poolside & published 09/05/23.
Nell Stevens is 40-something, and her life is one hot mess. She chronicles her year of finding herself, forgiving wrongs and making things right in this novel of short chapters. This reminded me of the “chick lit” books of the ‘90s and early aughts, which I loved in my twenties, but…well…not as much in my forties, which is kind of ironic given the subject! I liked seeing Nell‘s growth throughout the book, and I could relate to a few things. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
I chose these books to take with me away for the Easter holidays. I am in Lebanon at the moment. I am loving the tagged book. I decided to DNF the top book, it wasn't for me. I am sure will like Rock Paper Killers as it YA crime fiction.
Book #42 for 2022 done! This book made me laugh out loud at certain sections and reminded me at a very good time that we are all feel like F**k Up's. Would highly recommend if you need a pick me up!
Forty something Nell's life is a total mess.
She has gone from a happy life in California with her fiance to a broken relationship and having to move back to London tail between her legs.
With no job, totally out of money and friends who have moved on with their own lives Nell slowly starts rebuilding her own life.
She meets a wonderful character through a new job that totally transforms her future.
A sweet chick lit novel full of hope.
