A lushly illustrated set of dark, captivating fairy tales from the bestselling author of The Gospel of Loki with illustrator Charles Vess (Stardust). The beauty of stories; you never know where they will take you. Full of dreams and nightmares, Honeycomb is an entrancing mosaic novel of original fairy tales from bestselling author Joanne M. Harris and legendary artist Charles Vess in a collaboration that’s been years in the making. The toymaker who wants to create the perfect wife; the princess whose heart is won by words, not actions; the tiny dog whose confidence far outweighs his size; and the sinister Lacewing King who rules over the Silken Folk. These are just a few of the weird and wonderful creatures who populate Joanne Harris’s first collection of fairy tales. Dark, gripping, and brilliantly imaginative, these magical tales will soon have you in their thrall in a uniquely illustrative edition. The tales are beautifully illustrated by renowned illustrator Charles Vess (Stardust, Sandman, The Books of Earthsea).

What a lovely book, laced with equal amounts of fable, adventure, insightfulness, and melancholy. The tales are short, but woven together in a tightly interconnected way that tells its own story. Dark, as true tales of faerie should be, elegantly eerie and haunting. Charles Vess‘ art is the perfect accompaniment. It‘s amazing to think it started out as Twitter tales! I loved it.

This was an enjoyable reading experience, though I'm not entirely sure it came together -- some of the stories don't feel like they contribute to the narrative, but there is a strong narrative binding many of them together.

Aaand this helps me work toward one of the other lines I want to get in #BookSpinBingo. I'm on a roll, this month!

She often dreamed that if she believed, then one of these trains would stop for her and take her to a world in which magic was as everyday as science was in her own world, where animals spoke; where Kings and Queens rubbed shoulders with monsters, and witches, and fairies, and where Love was an adventure, not an ending to a story.

Rehesina @EstherBluewood we all do! I feel like we have this theme in the ten thousand doors of January as well, and her dream comes true. You might like it! 3y

A joyous, egregiously excessive book haul on a beautiful, sunny vacation day, after hoarding gift cards for 18 months😊 My summer is set up!

Yay, this is out! I very briefly had access to an eARC which then got withdrawn, so I'm glad I finally have my hands on a copy. I remember being very charmed by the linked stories, but it's been a while and I never got chance to finish it, so I should start this soon.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
