In the follow-up to the acclaimed series debut The Missing American, PI Emma Djan investigates the death of a Ghanaian fashion icon and social media celebrity, Lady Araba. Hard-hitting talk show host Augustus Seeza has become a household name in Ghana, though notorious for his lavish overspending, alcoholism, and womanizing. Hes dating the imposing, beautiful Lady Araba, who leads a selfmade fashion empire. Fearing Augustus is only after her money, Arabas religious family intervenes to break them up. A few days later, just before a major runway show, Araba is found murdered in her bed. Her driver is arrested after a hasty investigation, but Arabas favorite aunt, Dele, suspects Augustus Seeza was the real killer. Almost a year later, Dele approaches Emma Djan, who has finally started to settle in as the only female PI at her agency. To solve Lady Arabas murder, Emma must not only go on an undercover mission that dredges up trauma from her past, but navigate a long list of suspects with strong motives. Emma quickly discovers that they are all willing to lie for each otherand that one may still be willing to kill.

A beautiful, kind, successful fashion designer in #Ghana. Why would so many people want to kill her? Including members of her own family? Private investigator Emma Djan unravels a host of mysteries along with her coworkers, and a few honest policeman, to find and catch the murderer. So many suspects with viable motives, I was kept guessing quite a long time. Such an excellent writer. #foodandlit #serieslove2 @Catsandbooks @TheSpineView @Andrew65

Even though written by a man, this author really gets a woman‘s perspective. Book 2 in this Emma Djan series is shaping up to be as good as Book 1. #foodandlit #Ghana @Catsandbooks

Catsandbooks 👏🏼They question women for everything we do or don't do 🙄 Glad the book is going well! 2mo

I feel like this is a Mystery lovers mystery. Everything gets paired back to essentials and it about the puzzle of the crime. Which made it feel very fresh, a modern take on a classic mystery, with a very satisfying ending.

If you like a thriller style, this is not for you.

It did take me a few chapters to acclimatise to the slight structural differences of Ghanaian English, but I've worked harder to understand Scottish novels and I'm Irish!
