Um, no. I couldn‘t with this. I have the book but was doing the audio because I needed something when driving. And as much as I have liked A.S. King‘s strange stories in the past, I just don‘t think this was meant to be on audio. I got 33% in and I really can‘t tell you anything; I‘m just so confused and don‘t have the mental capacity to focus on it

I was finishing this book at dinner last night and my server asked what I was reading because of all the tabs, and we struck up a book conversation since she's also a book-tabber. Love finding kindred spirits.

Perfect morning reading before work today

This is probably the weirdest book I‘ve ever read. I didn‘t hate it, but the bizarre typography and structure definitely detracted from the plot… or what I thought was the plot. Was there a plot? I don‘t even know. So glad I didn‘t spend money on this one. Thank goodness for libraries!

This book is bizarre and wonderful, a mix of prose and poetry. Time is frozen in June 2020, but Tru has bigger problems - there is a mysterious switch in her house, and her father keeps building impossible boxes around it. Though it appears fine from the outside, the house is crowded, turning upside down, and isolating everyone living in it - a manifestation of the family\'s mental struggles to reconcile the terrible actions of an unnamed sibling.

The concept of this book is pretty fascinating - a world where time has abruptly stopped on 23rd June, 2020. An usual story, which could not hold my attention for long. Around 60-70 pages in I realised this book is not my cup of tea and could not read any further. The narration got confusing at times too. However, this book gives you a chance to have a different perspective about time itself.

A.S. King trusts the intelligence of her main readers—teens. Her innovative, surreal fiction is about finding & trusting in our best selves. In Switch, a family healing from trauma lives in a house that looks fine outside, while the interior walls, floor & ceiling spin like a “plywood rotisserie.” Youngest daughter Tru is in high school. She can freeze time, but what she really wants is for people to start giving a shit about other people. #YA

Daddy is yelling in the corridor. Mama is yelling back. I don‘t know what language they‘re speaking. Sounds like disappointment.

It didn‘t feel like a finished book. While reading it, it felt like a rough draft with only half a thought not fully formed and executed. Instead of writing things in complete sentences the book was written abbreviated with backslashes between each thought. A lot of the instances this was used was to resay the same thing. Then the ending was better than the rest of the book but also disappointing. The ending was forced and pretty bland..

I really liked the characters, but I don‘t feel like a got to know them as well as I would have liked. The plot was interesting, but a lot of the time I was confused as to what exactly was happening. The concept was unique and timely but I think the ideas presented in this novel were a bit too abstract. The writing is definitely different, but some of the words/sections I didn‘t think served a real purpose.
