Turns out, I find short stories by Pilcher just as cozy and comforting as her gigantic novels.

batsy Ooh, I was wondering about this collection! Was feeling the urge to re-read a comforting Pilcher novel recently and this book also popped up on IG, like a sign 🙂 2y

I was thrilled to discover this new anthology of short stories recently discovered written by one of my favorite authors. It felt like coming home as I read them. She writes with a descriptive, simple quality that almost feels like poetry to me. Each story (there are 15) made me wish for a full-length novel. Yes, she writes romance but not just love stories…her characters are so fully developed, her settings so fully imagined that the romance 🔻

robinb almost feels like an afterthought. My favorites here were A Place Like Home and Skelmerton, but I loved them all. 4.5/5⭐️ 3y

A wonderful short story collection that I savored over a few weeks. I read the author‘s The Shell Seekers first when I was in college, years ago, and still return to it when I am looking for a comfort read. These stories give exactly the same warm and fuzzy feeling in smaller more bite-sized pieces. #ARC #Netgalley

LeahBergen This sounds so good! I loved The Shell Seekers. 😊 3y
Suet624 I liked the Shell Seekers too! The only one of hers I‘ve read. 3y
