In 1987, Congressman Benjamin Hardy III died by suicide on live television amidst accusations of political corruption. Years later, rumors of a recording surfaced among VHS trading groups and urban legend chat rooms. Dubbed the "Duncan Tape," after the deceased cameraman who attempted to sell the video, the rumors allege that anyone who watches the tape is driven to suicide. Or so the story goes. In truth, no one has ever seen the supposed Duncan Tape, presumably because it doesn't exist. It's a ghost story perpetuated on the forums and chat rooms of the internet, another handful of bytes scattered across the Information Superhighway at blistering 56K modem speeds. For Robby and his friends, an urban legend is the last thing on their minds when a boring Friday night presents a chance to download porn. But the short clip they watch turns out to be something far more graphic and disturbing, and in the coming days, they'll learn even the most outlandish urban legends possess a shred of truth...

Mehso-so

This book was a good short read. Very 90s vibes which always makes me feel at home. But because this book was so short, I felt like there was so much missed information. There was some confusion at times because it felt rushed. Just wish I would have gotten a bit more. 3/5 stars

Pickpick

This was a short, fast read. I read it in one sitting. It is a pretty bleak book, dealing with the topic of suicide. It is also a vicious ghost story with a vengeful spirit. It definitely gave me a lot to think about. I would give this 3.5 stars, which I am rounding up to 4. I think this book will stick with me for awhile.

If you are bothered by talk of suicide, and that is the majority of this book, then this is not for you.

Reggie I think what affected me the most was when the friend told him the only reason he hung around them was because he was poor. I felt so bad. But yeah, this was no sunshiny book. 3y

This is not the cover of my book and don‘t go looking up the cover of my book. 3 kids in 1998 are trying to download porn but instead get a video where a man giving a conference shoots himself. The video content haunts all 3 kids and then takes on a life of its own. I admired the storytelling and the format of this novella which had some creepy pictures, journal entries, and creative vhs play pause fwd and rewind symbols. It was just a very 👇🏼

Reggie sad coming of age story. 3y
Centique I like the fact that you had to start with a content warning. It must be so bad 😬😬😬 Thank you for protecting our minds! 😘 3y

Reggie @sprainedbrain and @vivastory yeah I put it down at work and then finally realized what it was showing because I just thought it was a messed up tv screen and then just put it away before anybody could see it. 3y
