4 posts | 6 read | 6 to read
New York Times-bestselling October Daye series Hugo Award-winning author Seanan McGuire "Top of my urban-paranormal series list!" Felicia Day Meet Quentin Sollys. Squire. Hockey fan. Canadian. And Crown Prince to the entire continent of North America, known as the Westlands to the fae, currently ruled by his parents, High King Aethlin and High Queen Maida. Not that most people know that, since hes a blind foster squired to a changelingnot exactly something that screams hidden royalty. But with a new Queen on the throne in the Mists, his parents have finally come to town to see how hes doingand to take him home with them. Thats going to be a problem, since Quentin doesnt particularly want to leave, and his knight, Sir October Daye, doesnt particularly want to let him go. Set after Chimes at Midnight and before The Winter Long, its finally time to meet the parents in our first-ever story narrated by Quentin himself.

For the #BacklistReadathon, I finished three works from Seanan McGuire's October Daye series: the 7th novel, a short story about Toby and Tybalt, and this novella featuring Quentin Sollys, Toby's young and likeable squire.

Thanks for hosting and motivating me to get back to this excellent series, @Clwojick and @TheAromaofBooks

Can't wait to read this! So excited there's a short story from Quentin's perspective!

"Tybalt was lounging on the couch, looking like he did this kind of thing all the time. The urge to kick him in the shins just to take the smirk off his face was distressingly strong. I'm mostly okay with the fact that Toby's dating a smug jerk who thinks the rest of us exist for his amusement--mostly. No matter how much I trust him, he's always going to be a cat and she's always going to be able to do better."
