Darryl Cook is a man who seems to have everything: a quiet home in Western Oregon, a beautiful wife, and a lot of friends to fuck her while he watches. But as he explores the cuckolding lifestyle, he finds himself tugging at threads that threaten to unravel his marriage, his town, and himself. With empathy and humor, debut author Jackie Ess crafts a kaleidoscopic meditation on marriage, manhood, dreams, basketball, sobriety, and the secret lives of Oregonians. "Underneath the sharp satire and hilarious sexual irreverence this is a deadly serious book: a brilliant novel of a seeker, like The Pilgrim's Progress refracted by queer internet culture." -Torrey Peters, author of Detransition, Baby

"All I‘m saying is that I‘d never write a fan letter asking him to come meet us after a game, like:
Dear LeBron,
I want to see your strong perfect hands gripping my wife, palming practically her entire body.
[ . . . ]
I want her to have your baby.
Love, Darryl
I‘d never write that. I‘d write, "Sincerely,""

I made myself sick (not covid) by stressing out too much, so I bought myself some books to feel better.

Pickpick

Told through the eyes of the titular character, in his early 40‘s, Darryl describes himself as a cuckold in the cuckold lifestyle. He likes to watch men have sex with his wife. But as you begin to read what he is telling you, maybe everything is not going so well. None of the Internet forums he reads or drugs he‘s taking can change the dawning realization that maybe he has played too much of a bit part in his own life. This book is👇🏼

Reggie funny and tender at times and even suspenseful in a couple of parts. It has a great cast of characters that allows Darryl to grow and contract with every interaction. Aside from the abrupt ending, I ended up liking this a lot. I didn‘t know this going into the book but Jackie Ess is a trans author. (edited) 3y
