I devoured this book! I love the traveling trope. It pulled at all my emotions. Better than her first novel.

A forced proximity/fake relationship historical romance featuring an American heiress living in London and the handsome Earl of Leigh. The fake marriage gave Violet and Christian plenty of time to truly fall for one another. They‘re definitely more progressive than most of the others during this time and I loved reading about how a headstrong, independent gal was willing to risk her social standing in order to stay true to herself. So delightful!
I loved watching the feelings evolve between Violet and Christian. I loved his empowerment of her and the ways that she soothed his battered heart and dug her way beneath his armor. This wonderful story has so many of my favorite romance tropes: roadtrip, forced proximity, courageous rescue, reforming the rake, writer heroine. The author‘s meticulous research into the rights and situations of 19th century women is evident on every single page.
