This is my new favorite, “I see myself” book. Edgar Gomez writes about growing up Latino and gay in a very readable, hilarious and poignant way. From cockfights in Nicaragua with his uncles, to trying to hide himself away in Florida so that his family can feel comfortable, to his coming out during his high school, to the Pulse nightclub massacre, to him passed out with a pizza at a DragCon in L.A, there is so much to learn from this book. Pick!
This was so amazing. I loved how it ended on a neutral note- which is true to the queer experience. It‘s the beautiful yet tragic existence of being a queer person, sometimes your life is perfectly interconnected with your community and sometimes I‘m incredibly isolated.
