I loved this book so much. It was so cute and fun and for anyone who loves theater and broadway, it is the perfect combination of romance and drama and a really cute store. I loved the Mamma Mia retelling and it was just so fresh and fun. The ending was a bit predictable, but I still loved this book.

This was cute! Modern Mamma Mia spin in the big apple, including the musical element. What‘s not to love?!

When Millie gets her precollege acceptance to her school of her choice everything is good in her life until her dad says no. No because it would mean she would have to leave to the west coast when it‘s always just been them two. This is when Millie decides she is going to find her mother I loved the characters and the relationships to one another. I loved seeing the relationship slowly grow between Millie and Oliver This was such a fun read.

I am literally trying not to cry over how much I love Millie Price and her unintentional commitment to method acting for Mamma Mia??? All of these characters have my entire heart, as do the musical theater references. #yalit

This is abmust for Mama Mia Fans, but for others, it can be bit too much...

Quite Juvenile for my taste but hey, what did I expect it's a YA Mama Mia...

This was. . . Not what I was expecting. I think I thought it was going to be a much more literal translation of Mamma Mia, with the mother not knowing who the father is, but when it‘s switched, the entire plot of the book could‘ve been resolved if Millie just asked her dad the name of her mom. And the tagline - the one that is front and center on the cover - is a total spoiler alert. She never so much as likes the dude before the last 50 pages ⬇️

Zoe-h ⬆️ of the book. But, the author did in fact make references to ever musical from Cats to Legally Blonde to Springs Awaken to Avenue Q. I think those saved it. 4⭐️ 2y

This YA story about a theatre teen searching for her mom is predictable but cute. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#when-you-get-the-chance

Super cute, light, fun read. I loved the musical theatre focus & thought it was just really a good time. Millie is quirky & a little over the top, but so much fun. I loved the other characters as well. They felt like real people & I truly enjoyed the interactions between them along the way. Super sweet & had me smiling most of the time...though occasionally smacking my head from some of Millie's silly choices. Absolutely worth the read.

I love this release so much!!! It‘s my brand of book because it had a lot of Broadway/ Theater elements.

I just cannot handle Millie‘s personality. Definitely a me problem, it‘s just too much and not what I want to read right now.

robinb I had a hard time with this one too (or should I say with Millie!). My favorite characters were Teddy and Oliver…I gave it a pass just for them…they had the patience of a saint to put up with her. I found her abrasive and temperamental. One of my comments was: “She seemed spoiled and at the whims of her uncontrollable ‘Millie Moods‘ much of the time.” I wanted less Millie and more Teddy and Oliver. (edited) 2y
kimmypete1 @robinb that seems fitting. I‘m glad Teddy and Oliver were worth it! 2y

I wanted to like this one more than I did. There are basically three plots going on…finding a mom you‘ve never known, arch enemy angst/resolution and making decisions (as a teenager) about what comes next in realizing your dream. The plot was fine, the writing was good. But I had a hard time liking Millie (the main character) most of the time. I understand that as a theater kid, she‘s an extrovert who lives and breathes drama, both onstage and 🔻

robinb off. But I personally found her abrasive and temperamental, and as she seemed to be spoiled and at the whims of her uncontrollable “Millie Moods” much of the time, I guess that‘s not surprising? My favorite characters here were her bff Teddy and arch enemy Oliver. 🔻 2y
robinb Yes, this is YA, and there‘s some growing up to be done, but if I could have responded more favorably to Millie and if the ending had not been so perfectly perfect, I would have enjoyed it far more. 3.5/5⭐️ 2y

I started this thinking I wasn‘t sure I would be able to finish this because Millie was too much for me, but wow; this was so much fun and I am so glad I didn‘t give up! The back half had me rushing through this book so I could learn what happens at the end. Yes, there are the things that you just know are going to happen (romance, who her mom is, what the school musical will be), but the rest is such a fun surprise.
